Bamburgh First Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where is the nearest supermarket?

The nearest supermarket is the CO-OP in Seahouses just 3 miles from Bamburgh. There are also Morrisons and a Sainsburys in Alnwick, just a 20 minute drive away. Asda will do home deliveries to the cottages in the area. You can place an order online at www.asda.com and pre order upto 3 weeks in advance.

In Bamburgh there is a greengrocers, the famous Carters butchers and a couple of hamper shops that sell fresh local produce and sandwiches etc.

 

Q. Do all the cottages have wood burning stoves?

Yes. When we renovted all the Bamburgh First collection we installed wood burning stoves. You will always find a good supply of logs for you in your cottage for you to use throughout your stay.

 

Q. I want to be able to use my laptop while on holiday. Will I be able to get a connection?

All of the Bamburgh First cottages have a wireless broadband connection. You should be able to connect straight to this service. However if you have any trouble in doing so please contact us and we will be happy to help.

 

Q. Where are the nearest pubs and restaurants?

Bamburgh village has some great pubs and restaurants, there are also a few nice hotels which you can have a family meal or just sit at the bar. Please try The Castle, The Lord Crewe, Victoria Hotel and The Mizen Hotel and Blacketts Restaurant. You will not be dissapointed.

 

Q. We are arriving late at night is this a problem?

Key collection is made clear to you before you depart. We give you a key code which will let you in, so you can arrive at your leisure. If you make us aware of your late arrival time we will make sure the lights are on, heating is on (if nessasary) and there is hot water. You will also find a bottle of wine ready for you in the fridge aswell as other necessities to make your arrival a comfortable one.

 

Q. How much deposit is required?

We require a deposit of 25% of the total price to secure your Bamburgh First Holiday. The remainder is due 8 weeks before the commencment of your holiday. We will send you a reminder.

 

Q. What if my holiday is in less than 8 weeks time?

If you book your holiday within the 8 weeks of the arrival date then the full amount is required to book and confirm your holiday.

 

Q. Where and how do i collect the keys?

Most of our cottages have a key box at the front of the property. We will contact you before your arrival date and give you the relevant key code. Once inside you will find a set of keys for your cottage. Please replace the key in the key box and lock using the key code. This then will act as a spare key, just incase.

 

Q. What happens if i need to cancel my holiday?

 

Q. Who do i contact if any maintenance is required in my cottage while on holiday?

We have a whole team of very skilled registered professionals for all possible issues. So if its your boiler, plumbing issues or just a handy man we will send the right person for the job. Q. Will you clean my cottage while im on holiday?

If you require any amount of cleaning throughout your stay then we will be more than happy to help. Please either call and ask prior to your arrival or call while on holiday. There will be an extra cost per clean.
